With God All Things Are Possible
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “With God All Things Are Possible”. Many years ago, in my final year at Wits University in Johannesburg, I sat for one particular course called “Risk Management”. This course dealt a blow to many students. The majority of students who sat for this paper failed woefully. I can never forget sitting at the popular “Flower Hall” at West Campus writing the exam. On the question paper, we had five questions with the option to choose any four out of the five questions. I looked through the five questions, but did not have an answer to anyone. Over 30 minutes in the exam, I still had not lifted up my pen to write, but still looking at the question paper. As a student, I don’t know if you have ever found yourself in that situation. The exam was scheduled for two hours. An hour into the exam, I still had not written anything, not knowing where to begin. I was literally chewing my pen and looking up the ceiling. Then I tried to scramble a few thoughts on the paper, not knowing exactly what I was writing. Someone may ask: Didn’t you study for the exam? Really, I did my best to get prepared for the exam, but my best wasn’t enough. Looking around the exam hall as though I was searching for what was lost, I could notice other students in similar dilemma. Not long, the invigilator said 15 minutes left. By now, an hour 45 minutes had gone.
At this point I was sweating from inside out. Later the invigilator said, start getting ready to submit your papers. By this time, tears started rolling down my eyes. Why? I knew the danger of failing the course. It meant spending an extra year in the University. Psalm 50:15 says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” And David declared, “I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me” (Psalm 57:2). Then I began to cry out to the Almighty God who specializes in making the impossible possible. As tears were rolling down my eyes, I said Lord: “I hand over this paper to you. I do not want to spend an extra year by failing this course. Please mark it for me”. Immediately, we were asked to submit and the exam was over. Few weeks after the exam, I travelled to a city called Durban, and there I embarked on a three day dry fast concerning the matter. On the second day of the fast, the Lord stopped me and said, “Go and eat, I have already marked your paper”. I rejoiced greatly, went straight to McDonald’s, and ordered a Big Mac Burger to break the fast. When I returned back to Johannesburg, I hurried to my school. This was in December when students were still on vacation for Christmas. By this time, the results were already pasted on notice boards. When I got to the Commerce Building where the result was pasted, I met few students who were also there. Then I walked slowly to the notice board, and to my utter amazement I scored 50% in the paper. Ladies and gentlemen, that was enough to pull me through.
Words cannot express the joy I felt that morning. Passing that paper was mind boggling, because I knew it was over for me. Can you imagine in an exam where I was asked to answer “four questions”, and I was unable to answer one completely, yet I passed the paper? Indeed, that was God in action. I remembered some failed and spent extra year because of that course. If you recall in Genesis 18:14, the bible says: “Is anything too hard for God”. This was a question the Lord posed before Abraham when He promised him a son, and told him he was going to be the father of many nations. On hearing this, Sarah laughed. To her, such a promise was unthinkable and unreasonable. Why? She had passed the age of child bearing. But did God fail to fulfill His promise? Absolutely not! At 90 years of age, Sarah delivered a bouncing baby boy named Isaac. “For with God nothing shall be impossible” (Luke 1:37). Your Isaac will soon be delivered to your hands in Jesus Mighty Name! Just remember, with God on your side, you can never be put to shame, and failure will be far from you (Psalm 25:1-2). The Lord said in Isaiah 54:4, “Fear not, for you will not be put to shame; and do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced.” Yes, He did it for me, He will equally do it for you. Just trust in God, no matter the situation circumstance you are going through presently. Yes, He will surely deliver you (Psalm 18:1-30). You’re Blessed! Have a Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
