Yielding Completely to Jesus
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Yielding Completely to Jesus”. The Almighty God cannot use a half-yielded vessel. He can’t share you with the devil. He wants you completely to himself, not one leg with him and the other with the devil. This is one major reason many are weak, powerless, and not experiencing the blessings of God in their lives. Have you ever been in a situation where you think accepting Christ meant forfeiting the pleasures of this world? Well, I was there many years ago. I could remember just after my secondary school, then I left my hometown to Lagos, still bubbling in sin and enjoying the pleasures of this world. There was a particular friend who was really after my soul for Jesus. His name is Charles! This guy harassed my life each time we meet. He just wants me to accept Christ and commit to the things of God. I didn’t like it, and I hated seeing him around me, because every discussion with him tends toward being born again. So, each time I see him coming to our house I will quickly run inside and leave a message with our gateman to tell him that I am not around. Somehow, he will figure out it is a lie, and then wait outside the gate of our house, with the hope that I will come out. At that time, receiving Jesus meant losing my girlfriend, and I wasn’t ready for that. My plan was to consider Christ later. But I was totally wrong! Not long after chasing Charles away from my life, I was struck with a terrible sickness that almost took my life. My family members took me to different hospitals in Lagos but the illness became worse. It all began with a back pain, then to chronic migraine headache, to unexplainable cough, to kidney problem, then heartbeat disorder, and finally to an unusual growth on my spinal cord which the doctor said the rate at which it was growing that I will be confined to a wheel chair as I won’t be able to bend normally again for life. Then I knew I needed Jesus to stay alive. During this period, I lost so much weight and thought probably I had HIV. I was scared for my life. But as I yielded completely to Jesus and received Him as my Lord and Savior, the sickness left me in an instant. It was a mind-blowing miracle that marked a turning point in my life. Shortly afterwards I left for South Africa and got admitted at Wits University in Johannesburg. Since that encounter, my life never remained the same again. It was then I realized all the lies of the devil that kept me away from receiving Christ. In Christ is life in abundance. I have enjoyed my life more with Jesus than my time with the devil. Indeed, I have come to realize that when Satan gives you a gift, he adds sorrow to it. “But the blessing of the Lord makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it” (Prov.10:22). According to Kenneth Copeland, “Yielding completely to the Lord won’t cost you anything that is worth having. It will only cause you to live life to its fullest.” Jesus declared in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Is there anything holding you today from yielding completely to Jesus? Does it really worth it? Why not consider Him today! He has a better offer – a bright rewarding future for You. I am a witness. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). And He is saying right now, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). Yes, for this reason, Jesus came to die for you and me, that we may live and have life in abundance. This is the totality of why we celebrate Easter. If there is a time to reflect what Christ has done for you, it is this season. While being held on that old rugged cross at Golgotha, Jesus echoed with a lamentable voice to the host of heaven and hell, and said: “It is FINISHED” (John 19:30). What is FINISHED? All that the devil could ever throw against you – sickness & disease, poverty, anguish, oppression, joblessness, bareness, confusion, just name it – all were nailed on that cross. Now, he is saying to you, “Come with all the herculean challenges weighing you down, I will give you REST. Jesus is the “Way Maker” and “Burden Carrier” to whosoever that comes to Him. Have a Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
