What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do”. One of the greatest confusions of life is to be in a situation where you do not know what to do. Unfortunately, many in the world today are in such situation. There is a huge dilemma in the lives of many because they are at the T-Junction of life. The biggest question in the heart of many who are in such condition is: Which way do I turn? I am glad to announce to you that the Lord Jesus has made a way out. But you must trust firmly in him without wavering (James 1:1-8). Really, in the midst of this confusion that the whole world is faced with today, it appears some people are at ease, with God’s favour all around them (Psalm 37:19; Job 5:22). My question is: Why shouldn’t you and I be in that group. Psalm 5:12 declares, “For you, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favour you will surround him as with a shield.” While the disciples of Jesus were faced with one of the most excruciating trials of their lives on a journey aboard a ship. Jesus who was with them, in a similar condition, was asleep on a pillow in the same troubled ship with a heavy windstorm. Then the disciples asked a question: Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing? Jesus stood up, rebuked the wind, and there was a great calm. Then Jesus said to them, why are you fearful? How is it that you have no faith? (Mark 4:35-41). Listen, until the disciples turned to Jesus, he didn’t care. Did Jesus’ action negate the fact that God CARES? No! Remember, Jesus pointed out the root of their problem – FEAR! Why? FEAR is to the devil as FAITH is to God. “Have Faith in God” (Mark 11:22); “For without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb. 11:6). “FEAR Not”, says the Lord (Isaiah 41:10). “For God has not given us the spirit of FEAR” (2 Tim. 1:7). Jesus berated the disciples, that having being with him for such a long time, they shouldn’t have given place to fear by losing focus and confidence in God. Hebrew 10:35, “Cast not away your confidence in God, for it has great reward.” A lot is going on today in the world, that can render you confused and make you lose focus on God, but look up unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of your FAITH (Hebrew 12:2). Many years ago as a university student in Johannesburg, I decided during one of my summer holiday to embark on a spiritual journey to a Missionary Camp called “Kwasizabantu” in the Kwazulu Natal Province of South Africa. I heard so much of what God was doing in that place at that time. I took off to have a spiritual renewal and encounter with God in that place. I remember taking a bus one early morning from a little town called Mbalenhle in Mpumalanga Province. It was a long journey. I had many stops on the way. When I got to a town called Ladysmith, I was directed to take another bus to a town that will lead me to my final destination. By the time I got to that town, it was night. All effort to get a bus to my final destination proved abortive. I was left in the middle of nowhere – a small village – not knowing what to do. Then I cried out to God. And He said to me, ask for a police station in this village. Then I was directed to the police where I narrated my ordeal to them. They gave me a place to sleep that night inside the station. Early morning the next day, they directed me where I could get a cab to “Kwasizabantu”. Then I arrived safely, and had one of the greatest one-week long encounter in God’s presence. You see, one powerful attribute of great people is their ability to stay calm and think straight in the midst of a storm. Usually, you hear people going through trials say things like, “I am losing my mind”, “I am confused”, “I doubt if I will come out of this situation”, and so on. Hear me, if you can think or confess these negative lines, you can as well direct your thoughts and confessions to positive lines. It is a matter of choice! Man is one such being that God created with the capacity to withstand whatsoever circumstances that comes his way. The bible declares in Proverbs 24:10, “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small”. But God created man to be dependent on Him for everything. Remember, when your eyes are on God, you will know what to do when you don’t know what to do. Yes, you will not be put to shame. “For the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23). Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
