I Have Got The Power (Part 5)
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, we shall be looking at the concluding part of the series we began some weeks ago titled, “I Have Got The Power”. Looking back, I didn’t know this topic will go this far, with today’s write up being the fifth in the series. I hope you have been blessed so far. In the last two series, we dealt extensively on what I called the ingredients we need to exercise God’s power and authority in our lives as believers in Christ Jesus. Please, if you have not followed up with the series until now, you can visit my website at elvisukpaka.com, to read up the entire series. So, today we shall continue from where we stopped last week by looking at the final ingredient which is “keying into the great commission by spreading the gospel.” It is interesting to know that it is God’s desire that all men be saved. The Lord said to Prophet Ezekiel, “Say to the people, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel” (Ezekiel 33:11). This is what the Lord is saying to people of all nations of the earth today. “For why should you die, O people of the earth, and perish in Hell”.
The Almighty God wants hell depopulated, and heaven populated. For this reason, the book of 2 Chronicles 16:9 declares that, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to Him.” Indeed, God is looking for men and women who will enlist in this call to kingdom advancement by spreading the gospel. For therein lies the power of God. Apostle Paul declares in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes.” One major reason the church – to a large extent – has lost its savour, especially where witnessing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost is concerned, is because it has gotten so used to the four walls of the building called “Our Church”. Really, Covid-19 has made us to understand that the church is not the building. But unfortunately, many believers do not look or see beyond the physical building called our church, and the familiar faces they are used to. Today, many believers have become lights shining amongst themselves as lights. They are like torchlights lighted against each other that they turn so blind, not able to see beyond their physical surroundings. The bible says, “And the light shines in darkness” (John 1:5). We are the light of the world (Matt. 5:14); and meant to shine in the midst of darkness, not among ourselves, and competing with one another.
Jesus said to his disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:16-18). If I may ask: When last did you minister to a dying soul without Christ? When last did you go out of your way to pray for someone whom you know that’s under the grip of the devil? When last did you lay hands on the sick, and say: In Jesus Mighty name, be healed? You see, many of us want to work in signs and wonders, while we neglect the little things that matter. Hear me clearly, signs and wonders; miracles and power, will not follow you when you are sitting dormant and stationary. The Lord said in Ezekiel 22:30, “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. The question is: Why is God looking for a man? It’s simply because, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matt. 9:37). God needs workmen, and that’s why he’s looking for a man. I am sorry to say that the message of Kingdom Advancement is totally scarce, and squashed out of the pulpit in today’s churches.
The desire of the Almighty God is to see the souls of men return back to Him. And He is counting on us to take up the challenge like Prophet Isaiah, whom he threw up the question to, and asked, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then Isaiah answered; Here am I Send me” (Isaiah 6:8). The Almighty God is looking for men – labourers – that will say, “Here am I Lord”, send me into the harvest field. Can the Lord count on you? I choose to be counted. May we answer God like Isaiah when He call on us. Remember, if you truly want to exercise God’s power, it’s on the street – not inside the building called church – where you find all kinds of in-fighting and politics amongst believers. It is on the street you find the sick, the lame, the blind, the broken hearted, the poor, the possessed with demons, and the unsaved without Jesus. The devil has so distracted us for long. It’s enough! Never forget, “He that wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30). Really, if we are to interpret this scripture the other way round, it’s actually saying that, we are foolish if we neglect and do not win souls for Christ. Beloved, it’s time to be counted, and exercise our God-given power and authority. If you don’t, who will? I leave you to meditate on these things. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis
