I Have Got The Power (Part 2)
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today we shall continue the series we began last week titled, “I Have Got The Power”. Last week, I made mention that when we became born again, we were born into power (John 1:12). But one thing is to have power and another thing is to operate in that power. Unfortunately, it is in the operation of God’s power that many believers in Christ fall short. I am sorry to say that instead of operating in power, many today are operating in weakness. You know what? Satan likes it that way. He wants you and I perpetually weak and grounded without power. The mark of any true Christian is the position or stature he or she occupies in the spirit. Christianity is not shouting and screaming to the roof top as we see today. No! It is a demonstration of Power. While writing to the believers in Corinthians, Apostle Paul said to them, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1 Cor. 2:1-5). Ephesians 6:10 says, “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his Might.” Why? “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7). God wants you and I to operate in His power.
Really, that’s the only way we can actualize or accomplish anything meaningful for His kingdom. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). There is a battle to face because we have an enemy called Satan. But as a result of the one living in us – because greater is he that is in us – we operate from a position Victory and Power. Hallelujah! You see, one of the things Satan checks when he confronts any believer in Christ Jesus is the level of power they carry. For he knows you are no match with him if you lack power. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” It is only by His Power at work in us that God can accomplish anything on earth. Ephesians 1:19-20 talked about “the exceeding greatness of God’s power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.” Now, that same power that raised Jesus from the dead works in you and me who believe in Him. Above all, “God has raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). Hallelujah! The question remains: How do we begin to appropriate this power in our lives on daily basis?
According to Collin Dye, “God’s power, his infinite, ‘super-abundant-above-power’, is yours – not just as a theatrical possibility, but as a practical reality. That is why you can dream big dreams and let your heart loose on the divine possibilities that are available to you in Christ. Don’t sell yourself short.” In order not to sell yourself short or fall short of the glory of God for your life as a Christian, there are certain things you should arm yourself with, to be able to exercise God’s power and authority, and then operate in the realm He has charted for your life. First, you must consecrate your life before God. To consecrate means sacred, to make holy or to dedicate to a higher purpose. Remember, to consecrate is a choice. The book of 2 Timothy 2:20-21 says, “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” This is one principle Daniel and company understood early in life, and they shook the entire realm of Babylon that even the Mighty Nebuchadnezzar had to bow before the God of Daniel. God does not give holy things to dogs (Matt. 7:6). Yes, He cannot entrust his Dunamis – POWER – to those who do not honour and reference Him. “For them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed, says the Lord (1 Samuel 2:30). Beloved, we can no longer afford to walk in ignorance. We are in the days of His Power. I will be stopping here. Next week we shall finally look at the concluding part, as we examine other ingredients we need to effectively operate in God’s power and authority in this critical hour. Till then, remain blessed and have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
