God Desires Your Attention
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, “God Desires Your Attention”. Brethren, there’s a lot the Lord wants to do and achieve through you and me this year, but He desires one thing from us. Do you know what it is? Attention! God wants us to give Him our audience. He desires that we give full ATTENTION to His word. What is Attention? The word attention simply means, notice taken of someone or something; it is the regarding of someone or something as interesting or important. In Exodus 3, the bible tells us the rare encounter of Moses with God in the back of the desert, while tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law. In this encounter, the LORD appeared to Moses in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So, Moses looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses decided to turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn. When the LORD saw that he “turned” aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses. The question is: What was God trying to achieve by setting Moses up with a bush burning with fire? Simply, God wanted Moses’ ATTENTION, just like He’s been trying to get the attention of so many of us. Today, many lives are stuck in one spot, not moving forward, because they have refused to pay attention to God’s word or to what he is doing. You see, God’s action to call on Moses through the burning bush, was predicated upon Moses’ giving attention to what God was doing. Moses could have looked at the burning bush and turn away his attention. And God probably wouldn’t have called on him at that time. But as he turned his attention to see what God was doing, he heard a voice calling his Name. One thing God will never do, is to force his way or opinion on us. The bible declares in James 4:8, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” You see, God is always near to us; He is never far away. But first, we must draw closer by stretching forth our hands towards him, then he will grab us to himself. Remember, a delay in paying attention to God, is a delay to your destiny fulfilment. You must be willing and obedient to turn towards God like Moses did (Isaiah 1:19). It’s in paying attention to God that you are able to receive the instruction you need for your next level. The very moment Moses turned his attention to God, his life turned around. He was inaugurated that same day as a leader over Israel, to deliver them from Egypt. As a matter of fact, his business of tending the flock at the back side of desert ended at that moment. Beloved, I don’t know the kind of turning you need to make this year that will change your life. Listen, every turn you make towards God brings you closer to the fulfillment of your destiny. And each time you turn away from God, you literally set yourself up for the delay of purpose. Hear me, God is up to something in this season. It will only take those who are sensitive in the spirit to see it and latch on it. If I may ask: Like Moses, what “turn” do you have to make this year that will forever change your life?Personally, I made a major “turn” to give God attention on the 18th of June 1996. From that time till now, I have not looked back. It was a major turning point that changed my whole life. It literally consumed me that I became a slave to the turning that I made. Apostle wrote in Romans 1:1-2 saying, “I Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures.” Apostle Paul understood this major turning. He had his own on the way to Damascus, and his life never remained this same again (Acts 10). Beloved, you and I cannot achieve purpose in life when we become rebels against the leading of the Lord. Life becomes an unending rat-race without a meaning when we do not pay attention to what God wants to do in our lives. As you go this week, be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, so you can make the wisest decision that will forever change your life. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
