Enquiring from God

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Enquiring from God”. Today we live in a world of too many challenges facing at us. In recent times, seating in front of television is scary. Why? From CNN to Al Jazeera, and to our local television stations, there is no good news, but only horror news of kidnapping of hundreds of students, havoc caused by COVID-19, deaths, wildfire taking over cities, flood, murder cases, political instability, earthquakes, economic hardships, just name it. Unfortunately, there are no easy answers to these problems. But the good news is that there is someone who has all the answers. He is the Almighty God. Yes, He knows what you don’t have knowledge about. “For the secret things belong to the Lord our God” (Deut. 29:29). Hallelujah! Today many people live as though there are no solutions to their problems. Really, you can see it by the awful decisions they take. Why do you think we have high rate of suicide today? It’s because some people get overwhelmed by their life challenges. Rather than turn their situation to God, the only way out for them is to take their life. Ideally, nobody commits suicide, even in the midst of problems, when they have inner joy and fellowship with Christ. As Christians, we are not immune or exempted from the challenges of life. Jesus said, “In this world you shall have tribulations” (John 16:33). But as believers, there is a way to live and comport ourselves even in the heat of problems. Now “It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat. Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, a great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar (which is En Gedi). And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to “seek” the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So, Judah gathered together to ask help from the LORD; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD” (2 Chronicles 20:1-4). From the above scripture, we saw a daunting challenge faced by King Jehoshaphat. As a wise King, his fear drove him to God. He didn’t try to figure out things himself like some of us do today. He simply turned his case to God. David said, “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple” (Psalm 27:4). No wonder when David was attacked by the Amalekites who took his family as captives, he didn’t start figuring out what to do by himself. No! The bible said, “And David enquired of the Lord, saying: Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And the Lord answered him, Pursue! For you shall surely overtake them, and without fail recover all” (1 Samuel 30:8). In another instance, David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand” (2 Samuel 5:19). Listen, David had to seek the Lord’s counsel before making any move. David understood that, “By strength shall no man prevail” (1 Samuel 2:9). He knew the power of partnering with the Lord. As a rule, you can never go wrong when you involve God in the affairs of your life and situations. He awaits your call (Psalm 50:15). Have a fantastic week in God’s presence. With love, Elvis!
