Overcoming the Forces of Darkness

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, "Overcoming the Forces of Darkness". Let me begin by saying that we live in a fallen world, controlled by the forces of darkness. But I have good news for you. The book of 1 John 5:4-5 says, "For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" Hallelujah! From the above scripture, we can see that our victory is sure, but only predicated upon a life founded in Christ Jesus. The question is: Have you received Jesus? If yes, then you are a Victor. If not, you are a Victim. Why do I say so? Because as a victim you still live in the enemy’s slave camp. And to avert such an ugly situation, you must reconcile with Christ by giving your life to Him, otherwise you sign up for a life of perpetual defeat under the onslaught of the enemy.

Now, as a believer in Christ, there is a way to live in order to appropriate the victory that Christ has made available to you by reason of his finished work on the cross of Calvary. Really, it is sad to know that many believers are walking in defeat instead of victory. So many believers are being caged by the enemy to a spot without making progress in life. Unfortunately, some of the enemies attacking them are those closest to them – the ones they confide in and share deepest moments together. While admonishing his disciples, Jesus said: "A man's enemy are those of his household" (Matthew 10:36). If the Lord should open your eyes to see some certain things about your life and those around you, you will be shocked to know that not everyone who calls you brother or sister are really with you. Sadly, many believers are short sighted. Unknowingly, they dine with the enemy that's sucking them to death. I pray that every unfriendly friend around you pretending to be your friend shall be exposed and disgraced in Jesus Name.

As a believer, if you are to overcome the forces of darkness, there is a way to live. The bible says, "For the just shall live by faith" (Rom.1:17). As 1 John 5:4 rightly noted, "This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our Faith". Truly, you can't go far as a Christian without FAITH. It is your Faith in God that moves mountain. Such faith doesn't come suddenly. It builds overtime as you voraciously study and eat the word. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). The word of God builds and strengthens your faith when you daily feed on it. Now, joining prayer to the equation makes a huge difference. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, "Pray without season". Really, a man or woman that prays is not far from divine revelations. Therefore, mixing prayer with the word and faith, makes you a dangerous Christian that the enemy avoids. Why? Because you are loaded in the word; and by faith you are able to pray targeted prayers that frustrates the devices of the devil. As you spend quality time in God's presence, and in the study of the word, the Lord begins to show you secrets (Deut. 29:29). What the Lord shows you at this point, informs your prayer directions.

One major prayer every believer in Christ must pray is found in Jeremiah 33:3, and it says, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." It is the level of information you have about the tactics of the enemy that guarantees your constant victory over their incessant plots against your life. "Lest Satan should take an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices" (2 Corinthians 2:11). Meaning, it is our ignorance that strengthens the forces of darkness against us, because they know that lots of believers are uninformed. "For my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). I prophesy over your life today, that you will no longer be caged by ignorance. You shall overcome the forces of witchcraft, sorcery, deception, delays and backwardness militating against your progress and destiny in Jesus Name. Now, Reign, Rule, Subdue, Dominate, and Prosper as you go this week. With love, Elvis!
