Command the Darkness

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, "Command the Darkness". According to Isaiah 60:2, "For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and His glory will be seen upon you." Ladies and gentlemen, may I humbly announce to you that we are living in a time and season where gross darkness is having a field day upon nations and lives of many people. Just look around, you will see evidence of thick darkness ravaging lives - in sickness and disease, poverty and lack, oppression, pain, and despair. But in the midst of it all, the word of God declares, "But the LORD will arise upon you, and His glory will be seen upon you." Meaning, you will prevail irrespective of satanic darkness around. As a child of God, you have power to command the darkness – and it shall obey – and flee from you.

The bible declares in Genesis 1:1-3, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be Light: and there was light." This scripture informs us that the earth was in a chaotic state at the beginning. It was void, formless, and in total darkness. But the Great I Am That I Am - the Almighty God - stepped in. If you observed, God didn't have to argue with the darkness. He simply spoke His heart desire - "Let there be light" - and His word came to pass. God's word carries power. He said in Isaiah 55:11, "So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void". He is the God that, "Calls into existence that which does not exist" (Romans 4:17).

Listen, that same power to call into existence whatever we desire has been given to us by God. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father" (John 14:12). The bible says, "God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). Really, God detests darkness. In the same vein, He wants us to do likewise. Why? It's because darkness characterizes the devil. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, as darkness engulfs the whole world, we who are "light bearers" must shine and overcome darkness. The world isn't getting better as we climax the age. The only antidote to darkness is light. Then Jesus said, "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden...Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matt. 5:14;16).

As a child of God, if you don't shine in your domain of influence, darkness takes over. There is no vacuum in the realm of the spirit – it’s either light or darkness – no demilitarized zone. Evil reigns when the righteous remain docile. The reason why we have evil men in power today is because the righteous – the light bearers – are not there. They have refused to shine. Unfortunately, the children of darkness in the corridors of power make evil laws, and the righteous are compelled to obey them. Listen, you don’t put on torchlight in broad daylight. It won’t have any effect. The torchlight is most effective in the dark. Painfully, the believers who are shinning – only shine among themselves. And you can’t make impact when you shine as light in the light. We are meant to shine in the midst of darkness. So now, "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon you" (Isaiah 60:1). Hallelujah! Have a rich-fulfilling week. With love, Elvis!
