Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, we will be looking at the concluding series we began last week, “Living By The Spirit”. We noted last week that, “God is spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). Living life in the spirit takes us to the realm where God dwells. Living life solely on the flesh or physical will only bring limitation, fear, and a distant relationship with God. It is the spirit that rules over the physical. You hardly can see beyond your circumstance when your life is short-circuited only in the physical. The book of 2 Kings 5 recorded how Prophet Elisha was surrounded by the Syrian Army who were bent on taking him captive. Unfortunately, the servant of Elisha who was with him became very afraid and said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” But Elisha replied him, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see. Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” From this story, you could see that while Elisha’s servant was trembling, Elisha was not perturbed or troubled. Why? Elisha was not living on the earth even though he was on the earth. He knew how to connect, communicate, and get his desired result from God by operating in the spirit.
While admonishing the church in Corinth, Apostle Paul said, “I speak in tongues more than you all” (1 Cor. 14;18). It wasn’t pride, but a way of encouraging them to embrace a life in the spirit. As a Christian, it takes fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit to catch a glimpse of spiritual matters. Nothing good dwells in the flesh. Unfortunately, that's where Satan wants you as a Christian to always operate, so he can have the advantage over you. Why? You can't beat Satan in his own house. He feeds on the flesh; and anyone who operates in the realm of the flesh is meat to the devil. Apostle John declares in Revelation 4:2 saying, "Immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne." John couldn't have gotten there by operating in the flesh. Many believers today are living under closed heaven due to works of the flesh. In Daniel 1, the bible declares that, an excellent spirit was found in Daniel". The question is: Why? Because Daniel was constantly operating in the Spirit. His choice to live by the Spirit began when he knew "what to" and "what not to" eat (Daniel 1:9).
Beloved, there is no better way to live our Christian life other than to live by the Spirit. To live by the Spirit is a choice. It begins now, by the decisions you make daily. Let me ask: If you are led by the Spirit to fast and break by 6pm, would you rather break the fast by 1pm simply because of an aroma of a jollof rice coming from the kitchen? You know what? To live and maintain a life in the spirit begins by a decision that draws the attention of the Holy Spirit to your life. For Daniel and his friends, it was refusing to eat the food dedicated to an idol. Immediately after that decision, the Lord began to bless and exalt them. The Lord sees what you and I cannot see. Therefore, he tries to get our attention by way of drawing us in the Spirit. Sometimes, the Lord may wake you up in the middle of the night to pray, but the sweetness of sleep may not allow you to connect with God in the spirit. Unfortunately, many lose out what God is trying to pass across to them in that season. I pray that from now you will begin to desire and make the choice to walk in the spirit. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
