On countless occasions, I have been in a church service where the word of God was spoken through the pastor. Really, the pastor didn’t mention a name of any particular person, but the individual concerned knows that these spoken words was for him or her. The man of God will only speak as being led by the Spirit of God. Unfortunately, a lot of believers in Christ will hear such words concerning their lives and situations, and then ignore it without acting upon it. Alas, they keep wondering why things aren't working for them. Listen, our God is not a magician that does gimmicks with people. Our living in and for Him is by grace but also carries a condition. God’s condition is simple – Live by Faith. “Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him” (Hebrews 10:38). The book of Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Unfortunately, many fall by the wayside due to lack of faith. What is faith? It's simply receiving, believing, and acting on the word of God. Except it's not God speaking, but when He speaks, He means what He says and says what He means. His words cannot be broken. He says in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” If the word of God says you are healed, you better believe it; if it says you are more than a conqueror, then do not think otherwise; if it says you are rich, do not go about carrying poverty mentality. Just have faith in God (Mark 11:22-24). Anytime you act against the word of God, it attracts consequences. The consequence may be delayed blessings, hardship, disappointment, and even death. Take a look at the life of Saul, King of Israel. His greatest undoing was disobedience to God's word. God will give him a word and he would walk contrary to those words. Prophet Samuel kept pleading and praying on his behalf. Painfully, his incessant disobedience to God’s word led to his untimely death along with his entire household. Did God kill him? No! Saul killed himself by the choices he made. Never delay or be afraid to act on God's word. Why? It's because faithful is he that has spoken those words. God and His word are one. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away” (Matt.24:35). The question is: why are people still going through pain, hardship, sickness, and poverty when God has promised in his word to take care of all these things? Well, the answer is not far-fetched! Many of us do not attend to God's word. Even when some of us do, we do not act on it. James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” It's good to hear the word, but it will only profit you when you act on it. God wants us blessed, but He has a standard. His standard is obeying His word. Our success in God can only be measured by His word in us. Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” You see, there is “good success and bad success”. The only good success is the one based on the word of God. Satan also gives success, but bad success. Any success outside of God cannot stand the test of time. Today you see some rich people – building estates, too much money, and driving exotic cars – but they are not happy. Internally, they are suffering untold agony which they can’t reveal to anyone. That isn’t good success. “For the blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). Now, hearken unto the word of God whenever he speaks. It pays to do so. I am a witness, it has done great things in my life. I believe it will do so to you. Many blessings. Have a great week. With love, Elvis!
